Abiotic Factor : An inspired survival game that would make any Half-Life fan proud.

I’m not really a fan of survival games, i find them too long and very tedious, However; Two games feel very different to me, Subnautica and this game Abiotic Factor. Dont let the retro aesthetic fool you, this game is one of my most favorite games of the decade. You have to escape a government facility when an alien outbreak occurs and a testing facility goes very wrong….sound familiar? you are a brand new scientist who gets to customize yourself completely into what your good at and start a very easily 100+ hour game to complete.

The Good

This game is jam packed full of content, and the way the progression works is fun and rewarding. You start off in the hub of the massive facitlity, you learn to make makeshift beds from couches, wooden clubs  with nails in, the absolute peak of scientific discovery… I jest obviously. In this game you go through different dimensions, encounter different aliens and go through more scientific areas of the facility. This gives you more ideas and inventions being a scientitist and all. You will end up with laser weapons, teleporters, containments for SCP like creatures and so much more. The game has so much content in it which is usually a turn off for me, However the different thing you can make in the game that make you better, stronger and more capable. you feel like a scientist yourself.

The story, isnt exactly a point in this game, you find smaller stories in areas and more of an overarching story of characters and factions that form its way into the games story of expecting the facility.

This game has so much content in it, pets, dimensions, aliens, hundreds and hundreds of craftable items, base building, relics, cosmetics, farming, player homes and so much more. If you love discovery and finding cool worlds you can get sucked into wanting to know more about its lore and have a love for some things that are bizzare and sometimes even goofy…this game is for you.

The Bad

There isnt so much i can say that is bad about this game. I think one things i dislike quite a bit is the mapping. For some reason you can upgrade and get pretty much everything except a decent map, or any sort of gps device in the game. It just makes navigating a whole facility really tiring and exhausting sometimes, you really gotta remember where things are. Especially when you end up going back to alot of the same facilites, except this part of the game i love everything else.

Conclusion

This game is a very strong contender to my favorite game ever, however that is very incredibly difficult to say and i think a couple things stop it from being that. However this game is constantly updated and there is so much it in, even i havent done everything you can do in it yet. this game really has so much and paces everything so well, it’s so much fun to explore and play and it the definition of a good discovery and exploration game. I implore you to try this game especially if your a big Half-Life fan like myself
