Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 : How different will it be this time and should you be hopeful or excited

In the next upcoming Call of Duty game, its finally going back to Infinity Wards turn again. After two years of back to back Black Ops games. The next call of duty takes play in modern day and is about the North Korean invasion of South Korea. lets go over some points that could in the future for Call of duty Modern Warfare 4 releasing October 23rd 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC and Switch 2

The Good

The first good thing i’m happy about is the return of DMZ. I played quite a bit of it in the first Modern Warfare game. It was a good gamemode for those who were not really overly keen for the battle royale gamemode and more interested in extraction shooters  where you find players being more careful as they could loose all there loot. This allowed me to play the way i prefer which is more slow and tactiful, however i still enjoy the fast paces matches of multiplayer, but it gives me a good variety.

Captian Price and Ghost are back as some of the main characters in the game. Fan favourites that everyone likes, although its looks like they could be up against eachother this time as the game implies we might be seeing a more Thanosed Captain Price as i would like to say.

The bloom removal, i dont really know too much about this myself however. From my understanding they seem to be removing the weapon bloom from hipfire and a new system which esnures that bullets fire more precise making it more random. The fans seem to be fairly pleased, some mixed that this feature is happening.

They seem to making alot of mechanical changes to the game too, including a rework of movement, gun leveling, classic prestige and alot more. Possibly shaping and changeing the game just that bit more

The Mixed

They seem to be promising more grounded skins and less out-of-place cosmetics and collabs. A tweet by Infinity Ward saying, “Every aspect of Modern Warfare 4 is anchored in the game’s narrative. Every feature, every decision needs to feel authentic to what Modern Warfare is, and that includes cosmetics and collabs. We’re committed to keeping it grounded and transparent, and we want to hear from you on what you’d like to see in our game.”

This seems good; however, will we see that promise be fulfilled? There was massive backlash after Black Ops 6, as some similar promises were made early into the game’s release. Black Ops 7 have cancelled some of those bigger collabs and skins from the backlash they got with Black Ops 6. Only time will tell.

The worst thing we have repeatedly seen with Call of Duty is their use of clear AI in some of the making of their assets, also admitted by Activision themselves. A lot of people have divided over the decision to use AI in Call of Duty and whether they will use it in the next Call of Duty. There is no evidence present that they have any plans of not using it so far.

Conclusion

I am always excited for the next Call of Duty game, especially now that it has been 2 years since the last one that wasn’t Treyarch; however, I’m not holding my breath.

Even though they state a lot of changes and a stop of collabs and a better experience, it might be worth waiting a bit after the release to see the reaction. However, it’s still too early to tell, and they may yet change. They promise a lot of gameplay changes, but will it be enough to give a new experience of Call of Duty?

More information will be at Summer Games Fest this weekend, check out my page on it and I’ll have more Call of Duty updates there soon
